RPG - "Real" Roleplaying

This "Sorry, We're Open" strip reminded me of what I dislike about MMORPG's more than anything else. This used to apply to Magic: the Gathering and other CCG's when they were the big thing.

It's not that I think there's no real roleplaying going on on an MMORPG server, whatever that means, but I do think MMORPG's make it that much harder to actually motivate a group to do something. The logistics of in-person gaming (or even worse, LARPs with lots of people) really make the consistency of an MMORPG seem attractive, even if they tend to cater to the lowest common denominator.
